Sexuality and Pelvic Floor Workshop for Women

Have you ever felt disconnected from your own body? Does sexuality seem elusive or too taboo to be discussed and embraced? Join Jodi Epstein and Katie Jennings for a women’s workshop that combines movement and breathing to connect with the pelvic floor, and discussion to explore female sexuality.*

*Within this workshop we will discuss sexual desire, arousal, and pleasure through an educational lens. This is not meant to be therapy or a coaching session, rather it is information sharing that offers opportunities for self-reflection. If you have questions about this workshop or are unsure if it's for you, feel free to email Jodi at practicewithjodi@gmail.com.

The first hour will be a movement practice led by Jodi and the second hour will be an education lesson led by Katie. We will:

  • Discover stretches and relaxation techniques that help create a pelvic floor connection.

  • Explore spinal and hip movements to deepen body awareness and release tension.

  • Learn about how the brain registers desire and arousal while acknowledging our unique experiences.

  • Engage in self-reflection exercises to help maximize sexual well-being, learning about what turns us on, what turns us off, and why the body might not always respond as expected in both scenarios.

Each component of this workshop involves contemplative and mindfulness exercises. It is through these practices that we can find more confidence and comfort with our bodies and sexuality. Please bring a notepad or journal and a pen.

About the teachers:

Katie Jennings (she/her) is a New York City based educator and consultant who focuses on consent and sexual health education. Her most recent work includes building a consent and safety curriculum for parents of children and teens enrolled in athletic programs and leading consent and stress management lessons at Barnard and Columbia campuses. She holds a Master’s of Education degree in Human Sexuality Studies from Widener University.

Jodi Epstein is a Yoga and Pilates teacher specializing in pelvic floor health and core connection. She has worked and trained with Pelvic Floor Physical Therapists, holds Pelvic Floor Workshops throughout the year, and works privately with students both virtually and in person.

Sound Meditation with Gabriel Jiménez (Instagram - @gabriel.jimenezmusic)

Sound meditation is a practice that uses sound as a tool to facilitate deep relaxation, mindfulness, and spiritual connection. Here’s a detailed description of the experience:

Setting the Scene
Sound meditation typically takes place in a quiet, comfortable environment, often dimly lit to promote relaxation. Participants usually sit or lie down on mats or cushions, with eyes closed to enhance focus on auditory stimuli.
Instruments and Sounds
Various instruments are used in sound meditation, including:
Tibetan Singing Bowls: These bowls produce harmonic overtones that resonate with the body and mind.
Gongs: Their deep, resonant sounds can create a powerful vibrational experience.
Native American flute:The soothing sounds of the Native American flute can promote deep relaxation. The gentle melodies help reduce stress and anxiety, providing a calming effect on the mind and body.
Drums: Rhythmic drumming can induce a trance-like state, enhancing the meditative experience.
Chanting and Mantras: Vocal sounds can create a communal feeling and deepen the meditative state.
● The Experience
1. Preparation: Participants may start with breathing exercises to center themselves, focusing on the breath to release tension.
2. Listening: As the session begins, the facilitator plays the instruments. The sounds often vary in pitch, volume, and rhythm, inviting participants to immerse themselves in the auditory landscape.
3. Vibrational Effects: The vibrations from the instruments resonate through the body, promoting a sense of peace and grounding. Participants may feel tingling sensations or shifts in emotional states.
4. Mindfulness: The focus on sound encourages mindfulness, helping participants observe thoughts and emotions without attachment. This can lead to deeper introspection and clarity.
5. Integration: As the session concludes, there’s usually a gradual return to awareness. Participants may reflect on their experience, often feeling a sense of calm, clarity, and connection.
● Benefits
Sound meditation can provide various benefits, including:
-Stress Reduction: The calming effects of sound can lower stress levels and promote relaxation.
- Enhanced Focus: The practice encourages mindfulness, improving concentration and mental clarity.
- Emotional Release: Participants may experience catharsis, releasing pent-up emotions and finding healing.
- Spiritual Connection: Many find a deeper connection to themselves or a higher consciousness during the experience.
● Conclusion
Sound meditation is a profound practice that harnesses the power of sound to foster relaxation, awareness, and healing. Each session can be a unique journey, encouraging participants to explore their inner landscapes through the medium of sound.

Ilana is a group, private, and commercial Yoga Instructor who serves the NYC area via Yin, Restorative, Vinyasa, and Prenatal yoga. She believes that at the heart of yoga is the potential for self discovery and transformation. She especially credits Yin Yoga as a tool for self actualization. Michael is an Astoria based singer-songwriter who maintains a dedicated Yin practice at YUG. Hold & Release: Yin Yoga + Cupping

Hold & Release: Yin Yoga + Cupping

Hosts: Erika Ferrentino & Verónica Labrador Monteiro

Join us for a unique healing experience that combines the deep, meditative stretches of Yin Yoga with the therapeutic benefits of cupping therapy. This class is designed to help you release tension, improve flexibility, and promote overall wellness.

Yin Yoga focuses on slow, passive stretches that target the deeper connective tissues—ligaments, joints, and fascia. Poses are held for several minutes, allowing for a deep release that increases flexibility, calms the nervous system, and encourages a meditative state. Yin yoga helps balance the body’s energy, enhance joint mobility, and reduce stress.

Cupping Therapy is a traditional, safe, and non-invasive therapy that involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. This suction helps to increase blood flow to the area, promote relaxation, and reduce muscle tension. Cupping is often used to relieve pain, improve circulation, and promote overall wellness. It works on deep muscle layers, helping to break up fascia adhesions and detoxify the body by enhancing lymphatic drainage.

Please note that cupping is a therapy that may leave marks on the skin, but it does not break the skin. The marks are typically circular discolorations that result from the suction created by the cups. These marks are temporary and usually fade within a few days to a week. While the marks may look intense, they are not painful and are considered a normal part of the cupping process.

Benefits of this Class:

  • Improved flexibility and joint mobility

  • Deep relaxation and stress relief

  • Reduced muscle tension and chronic pain

  • Enhanced circulation and detoxification

  • A balanced body-mind connection

Whether you’re looking to ease physical discomfort or find deeper mental calm, this class will leave you feeling rejuvenated, relaxed, and restored.

All are welcome.

Price: $30, early bird $25 until 10/21

Yoga and Ayurveda: Balancing Vata for the Seasonal Transition

In this class, we’ll explore Ayurveda, an ancient wellness system from India that focuses on keeping balance in the body and mind. We’ll focus on a type of energy called Vata, which is connected to air and movement in the body. During seasonal changes, Vata can become imbalanced, making us feel restless, dry, or ungrounded.

Through a gentle yoga practice, calming breathwork, and grounding poses, we’ll aim to help you feel more stable, relaxed, and in tune with the transitions of this time of year. We’ll also introduce the basics of Ayurveda so you can learn how to apply these principles to your daily life.

This class is designed for everyone, with no prior knowledge required. Come and enjoy a full wellness experience! It is being offered one time at no cost, and we hope to hear your feedback.

Kundalini Activation Process (KAP)

KAP Kundalini Activation Process

KAP is a direct energy transmission that activates the Kundalini awakening process. Spontaneous movements can and does arise. Some consider it a cathartic experience or something that gives them deep insights or realizations. But these are just some of the side effects that can and do happen.

A profound rewiring of the brain structure and central nervous system happens with continued exposure. Every "symptom" or sign of a kundalini awakening, from the earliest signs to the later and manifestations, are seen regularly in participants.

What happens during the transmission

You lie down on a yoga mat. Some music is played. The facilitator will touch or point at different chakra/meridian points on your body. That's what happens on the outside. What happens on the inside is a totally different story.

Preparation

It is suggested to refrain from consuming alcohol, meat and to eat light at least a few hours prior to the session.

The session

Welcome and brief intro.

You lie down, close your eyes and the music starts.

Closing share.

Roll With It: A Myofascial Release Workshop

Join Verónica Labrador Monteiro for a  myofascial release workshop. In this workshop, participants will use pinky balls to learn self-massage techniques. Through the use of small pinky balls, practitioners will discover how to effectively target and release tension in their muscles and fascia.

Each participant will receive 2 pinky balls to use during workshop and to take home for continued practice.

What is fascia? Fascia is a type of connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, organs, and other structures in the body. It is a continuous web-like network that provides structure, stability, and support to the body. Fascia also plays a role in transmitting force, reducing friction between tissues, and facilitating movement.

By applying pressure to these areas using tools like pinky balls, individuals can release tightness, improve circulation, and promote relaxation in the fascia.

Benefits of this type of massage include:

Improved flexibility and range of motion: By releasing tightness in the muscles and fascia, individuals can experience increased flexibility and better movement patterns.

Pain relief: Myofascial release can help alleviate muscle soreness, tension headaches, and chronic pain conditions.

Stress reduction: The act of self-massage can be relaxing and calming, helping to reduce stress levels and promote overall well-being.

Better posture: By releasing tight areas and improving muscle function, participants may notice an improvement in their posture and alignment.

Enhanced athletic performance: Myofascial release can aid in muscle recovery, prevent injuries, and enhance athletic performance by promoting proper muscle function.

This workshop is designed to empower individuals to take control of their own self-care routines and experience the benefits of myofascial release through the use of pinky balls.
